VhaVenda Art Foundation
The VAF was a grassroots, artist-led initiative established in the 1980s in order to support and promote the work of artists in the (then) Venda ‘homeland’. The VAF benefitted in particular from the support of the Venda Development Corporation and access to Ditike, an art and craft sales outlet. Ironically, with the advent of democracy and the dismantling of Bantustan structures (notably the VDC), the VAF collapsed, ushering in a lean period for artists in the (now) Limpopo province.
